Maybe . . .

You have a piece that requires a bit of creativity. I specialize in fantasy and sci-fi stories as well as personal essays. But don’t let that stop you from sending in works of different genres. I read and work with all kinds of writing and I’d love to take a look at yours!

Or perhaps you have the foundation of your world, the bones of your characters, but you’ve hit a wall. You have a story itching to be told but don’t know how to move forward. Trust me, I’ve been there, and I want to help. I’ll ask you questions, offer ideas, help in any way I can to get your ideas off the ground.

Maybe your project is more academic or informational. You’ve done your research, you have all the facts. You’ve worked hard to compile all that data and research into a compelling essay, report, or presentation. But is it ready to turn in? I spent four years in college turning in papers anxiously, wondering if I spelled things correctly, put commas in the right places. I understand how you feel.

I named my service “Editing With Love” because I make corrections and point out mistakes out of love for the craft. I edit not only as an editor but as a fellow writer and potential reader/consumer. I don’t expect you to blindly accept my edits, and I wouldn’t want you to.

Tell me the purpose of your piece and its intended audience. If there is anything specific you’d like me to focus on in addition to general edits, please let me know as well. This may include character development, story structure, excess use of a certain word, etc. Tell me about your project and we can discuss sending a sample to see whether I am the right fit for you.

I run on three main principles:
creation, collaboration, and celebration.

The creative field/industry is competitive and riddled with talent. It can be easy to compare ourselves to others, to feel like we don’t stack up. I don’t buy that. Creatives should band together and support each other, connect and collaborate.

Creation is the ultimate act of creativity—our intelligence and curiosity at play. I love transporting people to different worlds, bringing them into my stories. I’m a storyteller at heart. For others, they might use other kinds of art (visual and performing) to express themselves, and each is beautiful in their own way.

Creative work isn’t easy work. It takes time, dedication, sweat, and a few tears sometimes. We put our hearts into what we do because this is what we love. What we create becomes a part of us and our work should be shared and celebrated.

I went through 10 other editors sample edits before Kim did one for me. Head and shoulders above the rest. Her editing style made it an easy choice to hire her for my novel. A choice that—now that editing is complete—I can say I am very satisfied with. Excellent rates, a quick turnaround, and always available to answer questions.
